Message from Ministry of Education.

All UK students ( including A’levels) who are currently on holiday in Brunei are expected to come to the “Majlis Keberangkatan Kebawah Duli Yang Maha Mulia Paduka Seri Baginda Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzadidin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien Sultan dan Yang Di-Pertuan Negara Brunei Darussalam Bercemar Duli Bagi Majlis Ramah Mesra Dan Junjung Ziarah Bersama Rakyat serta penduduk Daerah Brunei dan Muara Sempena Sambutan Perayaan Ulang Tahun Keputeraan Baginda Yang Ke-64 Tahun”.

Taman Haji Sir Muda Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien, Bandar Seri Begawan.

Time:
7.00am
The event is expected to end at around 12pm, after which lunch where lunch will be provided there.

Attire:
Baju Cara Melayu for Boys and Baju Kurung/ Fesyen for Girls preferably not yellow.

Students can park their cars near the Masjid Jame’ Asr Hassanil Bolkiah Kampong Kiarong and at Lapang Kilometer Satu (Batu Satu near First Metro) where shuttle buses will be provided to go to the Taman Haji Sir Muda Omar Ali Saifuddien, Bandar Seri Begawan.

UPDATE 10/06/2010: The Application form has been fixed and should be working now. Fixed a slight error in the email address (humanresource [at] bia.com.bn)

UPDATE 09/06/2010: It has been brought to my attention that the application form is corrupted. Until I resolve the issue with BIA, I am advising interested students to send an email to the provided address expressing interest without the form.

Based off their recent roadshow in the UK, the Brunei Investment Agency is currently offering a short term attachment programme to 2nd year undergraduate students. Placements are limited an are offered on a first come, first served basis.

LufBru Summer Games 2010

Assalamualaikum and hello fellow students.

We are pleased to announce that the Loughborough Students’ Union Brunei Society (LufBru) will be organising its 4th LufBru Summer Games 2010 in Brunei.

Winner of Loughborough Students’ Union SocFed Award for “Most Outstanding Event” for 3 consecutive years, it is one of the most highly anticipated games amongst Bruneian Students currently studying in the UK. The LufBru Summer Games continuously aims to foster close relationships between students as well as to develop the spirit of sportsmanship.

Sports to be contested are: NETBALL, INDOOR FOOTBALL & BADMINTON (MEN’S & WOMEN’S SINGLES, MEN’S DOUBLES, MIXED DOUBLES)

Nasyid Extravaganza 2010

Berita baik bagi pengemar-pengemar nasyid! Komiti Keugamaan Suruhanjaya Tinggi Negara Brunei Darussalam, akan menganjurkan Pertandingan Nasyid. Pertandingan ini bertujuan:

• Untuk Merenungi lagu-lagu nasyid, yang mana kita tahu banyak bertemakan Islam.
• Untuk mengeratkan sillaraturahim antara pelajar-pelajar dan juga penduduk-penduduk Brunei Darussalam yang berada di United Kingdom.
• Membuka pengalaman bernasyid.

Pendaftaran / Registration:

• Tarikh tutup pendaftaran: Selasa, 2 hb June 2010
• Nama kumpulan, nama-nama perserta, lagu yang akan di sampaikan dan number telephone ketua kumpulan hendaklah di hantar semasa mendaftar.
• Kumpulan bolehlah mendaftar atau menghadapkan sebarang pertanyaan kepada Ustaz Haji Raminey (ro [at] upp.org.uk) atau Rasid Bin Haji Ali (religious.secretary [at] bsunion.org)
• Jadual dan aturcara majlis akan di sebarkan kepada kumpulan-kumpulan, Insya Allah,dua minggu sebelum pertandingan

Peraturan-peraturan Kemasukan:

• Warga Negara Brunei Darussalam.
• Kumpulan hendaklah tidak melebihi 5 orang.
• Setiap kumpulan nasyid hendaklah mempersembahkan satu buah lagu samada lagu nasyid tradisi atau lagu nasyid modern dan hendaklah disampaikan dalam masa tidak lebih dari lima minit. Nasyid tradisi bermaksud lagu yang mengandungi unsur-unsur antaranya bayati, nahwan, sikah, ras, sobah dan hijaz. Manakala lagu nasyid moden ialah lagu selain daripada lagu tradisi tetapi hendaklah tidak termasuk rentak seperti rock, heavy metal, Jazz, Hip Hop dan Rap.
• Seni kata lagu hendaklah dalam bahasa Melayu, Inggeris (English), Arab ataupun gabungan bahasa-bahasa tersebut.
• Pakaian para perserta hendaklah sopan dan sesuai dengan nilai-nilai islam serta menutup aurat.
• Peralatan pembesar suara akan disediakan. Alat-alat music seperti gendang bolehlah di bawa. Cekera padat (CD) juga boleh digunakan.
• Perserta-perserta akan di anugerahkan sijil penyertaan dan kepada pemenang-pemenang pertandingan ini akan menerima Hadiah.
• Keputusan Pengadil adalah muktamad semasa pertandingan nanti.
