Hello & Assalamualaikum warahmatullah. How’s summer treating you guys? Good? I sincerely hope that you are reading this in the best of health. I know some of you guys might still be having your exams and some have already completed everything, curently relaxing at homeland.

As you all know that Brunei Society in Loughborough University is going to hold 5th LufBru Summer Games on 28th till 30th July in Brunei Darussalam and I am sure all of us are looking forward to the event. The LSG’11 Exec Committee is now searching for volunteers to help us in making the event a tremendous success. All we require from you is:

• Your Name
• Your Student ID
• Your Place of Study
• Your Contact Details IN BRUNEI
• Your Preferred Day(select two or all) 28th, 29th 30th July.

The tasks allocated to Volunteers will range from helping out the Committee with general control of participants and audience, to being linesmen for Badminton, so if you think you have the skills, do register with us at lufbrusg2011@gmail.com . It is preferable that you are not participating in the sports being held and at least 18 years old and above.

The DEADLINE FOR VOLUNTEER REGISTRATION is 11 June 2011, so don’t hesitate if you’re interested, okay? =D

Here’s a HUGE plus: Volunteers would be provided with certificates, food, drinks and gifts like the Volunteers stash – certainly not something you’d want to miss out on. However upon considering your registration, we would like you to ensure that you are free throughout the Games session, and that you abide by the rules and regulations for volunteering, which are as follows:

• Throughout the Games, you must maintain self discipline and would need to abide by the rules of the Games at all times.
• If you didn’t attend on you preferred day, you will be ask to pay for the stash.
• All Volunteers MUST BE PRESENT according to the timetable drawn for them.
• Volunteers are to be present at least 3/4 of the day’s event
• All Volunteers MUST follow the dress code for the Games: appropriate attire – long sports pants.
• Volunteers should be willing to participate with any task given to them by Executive committee even though it’s outside their area of expertise.
• Volunteers need to ALWAYS refer to respective committee present should there be any difficulties.

BIA (Brunei Investment Agency) would like to kindly inform all undergraduate students who are in their 2nd year of study regarding the upcoming Short-Term Attachment Programme. The relevant subjects / courses to apply for the Short-Term Attachment Programme are as stated below:

• Accounting
• Accounting & Financial Management
• Economics
• Statistics
• Corporate Finance
• Mathematics
• Business Administration
• Business Management

Note: Other subjects that are not listed above will be considered as long as they are relevant to the nature of work in BIA. The seats are limited and therefore only a selected number of students will be shortlisted to join in this programme according to their academic background.

Further information regarding the Short-Term Attachment Programme are as follows:

Objective: To give an opportunity for students to get a feel of the work nature in BIA mainly related to the Front Office.

Dear fellow Bruneians, I hope everyone is doing well with revisions and exams and I wish you all the best. But amidst all the stress you may have, we offer you the chance to release it all this July!

Registration for LufBru Summer Games 2011 will be opened soon. This shall take place at exactly 00 00 hours on Saturday 28th May 2011 and end exactly ONE WEEK later. Details are as follows:

Please note that the venue will be confirmed at a later date. Details of how to make these payments will be sent to registered players or teams separately.

The process:
The link to download registration forms will be made available at out official blogspot (http://lsubrunei.blogspot.com/) at the specified time above, and we will ask you to fill in the details required (outlined below) and send us your completed form via e-mail to LUFBRUSG2011@gmail.com with a e-mail subject heading “Futsal”, “Netball” or “Badminton” for each sport you will be partaking in.

We will confirm your registration as “Registered” or “Wait-listed” as soon as we process your application.

In the preliminary registration form you will be downloading and complete the following:

• Sports to compete
• FULL Names of Player(s) with the names of their institution and their ID number at their institution
• FULL Name of Team Captain (applicable to Futsal And Netball only), his/her institution and ID number at his/her institution

To ensure fairness, we will only be accepting registration using the forms we will provide. We will not accept a list of the above registration requirements in the main body of the e-mail or any other forms of tabulated data you may have produced before the release of the form.

Please indicate which of the members are imports (if any) and specifications for imports can be found in the attached General Rules & Regulations. We urge everyone to read this as they contain information which you may have been questioning in mind. Rules on Imports are becoming more stringent due to the feedback received over the previous years so there will be no leniency when it comes to imports – we hope you understand our situation=)

It is our pleasure to announce that Loughborough Students’ Union Brunei Society will be holding our annual 5th LufBru Summer Games, 2011 in Brunei. LufBru Summer Games last year was regarded as the most organized summer games so far. This year we hope for an even better summer games with your participation and comments from previous years.

Registration
Information on registration will be sent on separate email later on in the week, but please get ready. It will happen soon!
Slots are limited and teams are enlisted on a FIRST COME FIRST SERVE BASIS.

Sports to be contested:

• Netball
• Indoor Footabll
• Badminton (Men’s and Women’s Singles, Men’s and Women’s Doubles, Mixed Doubles)

This year, our aim is to provide better services to participants and your satisfaction is our goal. Thus we’re making some changes on the rules and regulations for this year’s Summer Games – this was based on the comments and feedback from players in the previous games – hence we do hope that everyone will enjoy this games better! Please take note on the amendments listed below:

These rules are imposed for IMPORT PLAYERS (Non-UK based students):

• Only ONE import player is allowed for each team.
• Form Sixth student or any secondary school students are NOT eligible to participate in this year’s summer games as import players – these are students who have not had their A-level public exams yet.
• ‘Sixth-form – to – University’ transition students are also NOT eligible to participate – this means that an import player must be receiving full-time education at the time of their participation; students who have finished their A-level exams and have not started their higher education course in universities are NOT allowed.
• Students from a Brunei Government-Based Higher Institute are allowed to participate.
• Postgraduate students who wish to participate must have graduated from their institute within ONE year prior to the date of the games.

Due to unforeseen circumstances (in relation to the upcoming royal wedding in the UK), the Charity Run UK that should have  been on the 16th April had to be held on another day.

However, due to the next possible time being during the summer term when everyone is having their exams, BSU would like to know what date would be most convenient to those who are still interested. We are looking at the end of June or even mid-June.
