Bandar Seri Begawan, Brunei Darussalam – 29/08/2017 – The Brunei Religious Officers Student Assocation (BruROSA) has recently organized ‘Unsung Heroes’ for its second year running. ‘Unsung Heroes’ is an annual charity project, in the form of food and drinks donation, to overlooked workers in Brunei. The aim is to show appreciation to ‘behind-the-scenes’ workmen who have been actively creating Brunei the beautiful country it is today.
The event commenced with the recitation of surah Al-Fatihah by Md Wazien Naufal bin Awg Azmain and opening remarks from Md Umair Akmal bin Hj Noor Ahsffian, president of BruROSA 2017/18 at Masjid Jam’e Asr Hassanil Bolkiah. The volunteers then drove off to three areas – Bandar Seri Begawan, Kiulap and Muara, going to random construction and roadworks sites as well as stopping by to aid workers cutting grass.
Following the Sunnah of the Prophet S.A.W. in constantly giving charity and attaining the pleasure of Allah Subhanahu Wa’Taala, BruROSA encourages all Bruneians to donate more. When distributing the refreshments to the workers, Md Wazien Naufal recalled of Bilal bin Rabah, one of the Companions of the Prophet (S.A.W). As a slave, he was one of the most honored amongst the companions of the Prophet because of his unwavering faith to Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta’ala. This can be a reminder to all of us that we are all equal in the sight of Allah and that we should do as much good as we can for the benefit of others and ourselves in the Akhirah.
The event concluded with the recitation of doa penutup by Md Wazien Naufal.
