CSPS has requested the distribution of information relating to current job opportunities to students in the UK.

The CSPS is currently inviting applications for Researcher and Assitant Researcher Positions. The positions are mostly targeted towards more experienced researchers that are currently studying the UK; however, the information may be useful for students who are interested in a career for research.

Job Code: RD/R RESEARCHER
Salary ranges up to BND$9,200 per month.
(This post is also open to qualified expatriates residing in Brunei)

Responsibilities & requirements

  • Conduct high level research and analysis, writing reports and papers for publication in strategic and policy research issues.
  • Share responsibility in managing multiple tasks and projects, under the supervision of the Senior Researcher.
  • Possess strong analytical skills with the ability to think strategically.
  • Expertise in a variety of quantitative and qualitative research methodologies. Competency in SPSS, GIS, IT and economic modeling will be an advantage.
  • Ability to plan, coordinate and execute tasks and projects through to completion, balancing competing demands and has specific attention to detail.
  • Self-motivated, willing to take up new challenges and keen to contribute to the running and further development of the Centre.
  • Possess a minimum PhD degree in either Economics, Policy Studies, Sociology, Development Studies or equivalent.
  • At least 8 years experience in research-related areas, especially with experience in a think tank, public affairs or government office.

Job Code: RD/AR ASSOCIATE RESEARCHER
Salary ranges up to BND$5,130 per month.

Responsibilities & requirements

  • Assist in literature searches, review, collecting data, running statistical analyses of projects and writing drafts of manuscripts
  • Support the research division, headed by the Senior Researcher, by performing other logistical tasks and activities of the research team.
  • Prepare, edit and document progress reports and researches, publications, dissemination via presentation, other activities and meetings
  • Possess strong analytical skills with the ability to think strategically.
  • Expertise in a variety of quantitative and qualitative research methodologies. Competency in SPSS, GIS, IT and economic modeling will be an advantage.
  • Ability to plan, coordinate and execute tasks and projects through to completion, balancing competing demands and has specific attention to detail.
  • Self-motivated, willing to take up new challenges and keen to contribute to the running and further development of the Centre.
  • Possess a minimum Masters degree in either Economics, Politics, Policy Studies, Sociology, Development Studies or equivalent.
  • At least 3 years’ experience in research-related areas, and relevant experience in a think tank, public affairs or government office.

Successful candidates for all positions shall work under the direction of the CSPS Executive Director, as required on a contractual basis.
